Swallow
“Successful Journey and Triumph”
Before the days of advanced navigation systems, sailors would only know they were near land once they spotted swallows in the skies. swallows are popular traditional sailor tattoo. This transpired into the tattoo meaning of a safe return to home. It is also said that a sailor gets a set of swallows on his chest, if he or she drowns, the swallows come down and lift his soul to the heavens.
“These fists fly"
A symbol of the working class pride, fast fist and bravery in England. Men would often get swallows tattooed on the backs of their hands to show they were quick, strong, and ruthless fighters!
“Love and loyalty”
Swallows will choose only one mate and remain true to them for life so they’re often a representation of finding true love or loyalty.
